Spacecraft Materials

Spacecraft materials refer to the various substances and compounds used in the construction of spacecraft and their components. These materials must be able to withstand the harsh conditions of space, including extreme temperatures, radiation, and vacuum. They must also be lightweight and durable, as every extra pound of weight requires more fuel to launch and maneuver the spacecraft. Common spacecraft materials include metals such as aluminum and titanium, composites such as carbon fiber reinforced polymers, and ceramics such as silicon carbide. These materials are used in everything from the spacecraft's structure and propulsion systems to its thermal protection and electrical components.
