Composites

Composites are materials made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties, that when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual components. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, composites are widely used due to their high strength-to-weight ratio, resistance to corrosion and fatigue, and ability to withstand extreme temperatures and radiation. Composites are used in the construction of spacecraft, satellites, and launch vehicles, as well as in space suits and other equipment. The most common types of composites used in space and astronautical engineering are carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP), glass fiber reinforced polymers (GFRP), and aramid fiber reinforced polymers (AFRP).
