Resistance

Resistance is the measure of the opposition that a material offers to the flow of electric current. In space and astronautical engineering, resistance plays a crucial role in the design and operation of electrical systems. The resistance of wires and other electrical components can cause power losses and heat generation, which can be detrimental to the performance and reliability of spacecraft. Engineers must carefully select materials and design electrical systems to minimize resistance and optimize power efficiency. Resistance is also a key factor in the design of thermal control systems, which regulate the temperature of spacecraft components. Materials with high thermal resistance are used to insulate sensitive components from extreme temperatures in space. In addition, resistance is a critical parameter in the design of propulsion systems, which rely on the efficient conversion of electrical energy into thrust.
