Air Filtration

Air filtration is the process of removing particles and contaminants from the air in a spacecraft or space station to maintain a safe and healthy environment for astronauts. The air filtration system typically includes a pre-filter to remove larger particles, a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter to remove smaller particles, and a carbon filter to remove odors and volatile organic compounds. The air is also monitored for carbon dioxide, humidity, and temperature levels to ensure optimal conditions for the crew. In addition to providing clean air, the air filtration system also plays a critical role in fire prevention by removing flammable particles from the air.
