Space Station

A space station is a large spacecraft that orbits Earth and serves as a long-term platform for living and working in space. It is designed to support a crew of astronauts and cosmonauts for extended periods of time, typically several months to a year or more. Space stations are equipped with a variety of systems and facilities, including living quarters, laboratories, airlocks, robotic arms, and communication equipment. They are used for scientific research, technology development, and testing of spacecraft systems and equipment. Space stations are also used as a staging point for human missions to the Moon and Mars. The first space station was launched in 1971 by the Soviet Union, and since then several other countries, including the United States, Russia, China, and Europe, have launched their own space stations.
