Frequency Modulation

Frequency Modulation (FM) is a method of encoding information on a carrier wave by varying the frequency of the wave. In space and astronautical engineering, FM is commonly used in communication systems to transmit information between spacecraft and ground stations. FM is preferred over other modulation techniques because it provides better signal-to-noise ratio and reduces interference. FM is also used in navigation systems, such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), to accurately determine the position of spacecraft. In addition, FM is used in radar systems to detect and track objects in space. The FM signal is generated by a modulator and transmitted through an antenna. At the receiver end, the signal is demodulated to extract the original information.
