Position
In space and astronautical engineering, position refers to the location of an object or spacecraft relative to a reference point. This reference point can be a celestial body, such as Earth or the Sun, or a man-made object, such as a satellite or space station. Position is typically described using a coordinate system, such as latitude and longitude or Cartesian coordinates, and can be measured using sensors and instruments on board the spacecraft. Accurate knowledge of position is critical for navigation and control of spacecraft, as well as for scientific observations and experiments. In addition, position information is used for tracking and communication with spacecraft from the ground.
