Signal-to-noise Ratio


Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is a measure of the strength of a signal relative to the background noise present in a system. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, SNR is an important parameter for communication systems, remote sensing instruments, and other electronic devices. A high SNR indicates a strong signal and a low level of noise, while a low SNR indicates a weak signal that is difficult to distinguish from the noise.
