Remote Sensing

Remote Sensing is the process of acquiring information about an object or phenomenon without making physical contact with the object. In space and astronautical engineering, remote sensing is used to gather data about the Earth and other celestial bodies using sensors mounted on satellites, spacecraft, and other platforms. Remote sensing data can be used to study the Earth's atmosphere, oceans, land surface, and geology, as well as to monitor weather patterns, natural disasters, and human activities. Remote sensing techniques include passive and active sensing, and can use a variety of wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum, including visible light, infrared, and microwave radiation.
