Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission
Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) was a joint mission between NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) designed to monitor and study tropical rainfall. TRMM was launched in 1997 and operated until 2015. The mission provided valuable data on precipitation, which is important for understanding weather patterns, climate change, and natural disasters such as floods and droughts. TRMM carried a suite of instruments including a precipitation radar, microwave imager, and visible and infrared sensors. These instruments allowed TRMM to measure the amount, intensity, and distribution of rainfall in the tropics with high accuracy and resolution. TRMM data has been used in a wide range of applications, including weather forecasting, climate modeling, and disaster management.
