TRMM
TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) was a joint mission between NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) designed to monitor and study tropical rainfall. The mission was launched in 1997 and operated until 2015, during which time it provided valuable data on precipitation, atmospheric moisture, and other related parameters. TRMM carried a suite of instruments including a precipitation radar, a microwave imager, and a visible and infrared scanner, which allowed it to measure rainfall rates and patterns with high accuracy and resolution. The mission contributed significantly to our understanding of the global water cycle, climate variability, and extreme weather events such as hurricanes and typhoons.
