NSFNET

NSFNET was a high-speed network funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) from 1985 to 1995. It was the backbone of the internet during this time and connected many universities and research institutions across the United States. NSFNET played a crucial role in the development of the internet and helped to establish the infrastructure that we use today. It was decommissioned in 1995 as commercial internet service providers took over the role of providing internet connectivity.
