Climate

In space and astronautical engineering, climate refers to the long-term patterns of temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, and other meteorological conditions that prevail on a celestial body. The study of climate is important for understanding the habitability of a planet or moon, as well as for designing spacecraft and habitats that can withstand the extreme conditions of space. Climate models are used to simulate the behavior of a planet's atmosphere and predict future changes in its climate. Factors that can affect a planet's climate include its distance from the sun, its rotation rate, the composition of its atmosphere, and the presence of oceans or other bodies of water. In addition to studying the climate of Earth and other planets in our solar system, space and astronautical engineers are also interested in the climate of exoplanets, or planets outside our solar system.
