Plasma Heating

Plasma heating is the process of increasing the temperature of a plasma, which is a state of matter consisting of ionized gas, to achieve the conditions necessary for nuclear fusion or other high-energy processes. There are several methods of plasma heating, including ohmic heating, radio frequency heating, and neutral beam injection. Ohmic heating involves passing an electric current through the plasma to heat it, while radio frequency heating uses electromagnetic waves to excite the plasma particles and increase their energy. Neutral beam injection involves firing a beam of high-energy neutral particles into the plasma, which then ionize and heat the plasma. Plasma heating is a critical component of many fusion experiments and is necessary to achieve the temperatures and pressures required for sustained fusion reactions.
