Thermal Probes

Thermal probes are instruments used in space and astronautical engineering to measure temperature and heat flux in extreme environments. They are designed to withstand high temperatures, radiation, and other harsh conditions encountered in space. Thermal probes can be used to monitor the temperature of spacecraft components, such as engines, thrusters, and heat shields, as well as the surrounding environment. They can also be used to measure the heat transfer between different surfaces, which is important for designing thermal control systems. Thermal probes typically consist of a temperature sensor, such as a thermocouple or resistance thermometer, and a protective housing that shields the sensor from the environment. Some thermal probes also include a heater element that can be used to control the temperature of the sensor.
