Regolith
Regolith is a layer of loose, heterogeneous, and unconsolidated rock and dust that covers the solid bedrock of a celestial body. It is formed by the continuous breaking down of rocks and minerals by meteoroid impacts, radiation, and other geological processes. Regolith can be found on the Moon, Mars, asteroids, and other planets and moons. It is an important resource for space exploration as it can be mined for water, oxygen, and other elements that can be used for life support and rocket fuel. Regolith also provides valuable information about the geological history of a celestial body and its potential for supporting life.
