Propulsion Technique


Propulsion technique refers to the method or technology used to accelerate a spacecraft or a rocket into space or to maneuver it in space. There are various propulsion techniques used in space and astronautical engineering, including chemical propulsion, electric propulsion, nuclear propulsion, and solar propulsion. Chemical propulsion is the most commonly used technique and involves the combustion of a fuel and an oxidizer to produce thrust. Electric propulsion, on the other hand, uses electric power to accelerate ions or plasma to produce thrust. Nuclear propulsion uses the energy released from nuclear reactions to produce thrust, while solar propulsion uses the energy from the sun to produce thrust. The choice of propulsion technique depends on various factors, including the mission requirements, the distance to be covered, and the payload weight.
