Nuclear Power

Nuclear power is the use of nuclear reactions that release nuclear energy to generate heat, which most frequently is then used in steam turbines to produce electricity in a nuclear power plant. The heat is created through nuclear fission, which occurs when the nucleus of an atom splits into two or more smaller nuclei, releasing a large amount of energy. In a nuclear power plant, this energy is used to heat water, which then produces steam that drives a turbine, generating electricity. Nuclear power is a highly efficient and reliable source of energy, with a low carbon footprint and the ability to produce large amounts of electricity. However, it also poses significant safety and environmental risks, including the potential for nuclear accidents and the long-term storage of radioactive waste.
