Network Capacity

Network capacity refers to the maximum amount of data that can be transmitted over a network in a given period of time. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, network capacity is a critical factor in the design and operation of communication systems for spacecraft and ground stations. The capacity of a network is determined by a variety of factors, including the bandwidth of the communication channel, the modulation scheme used to encode the data, and the signal-to-noise ratio of the transmission. In order to maximize network capacity, engineers must carefully optimize each of these factors to ensure that the data can be transmitted reliably and efficiently. This is particularly important for deep space missions, where communication delays can be significant and bandwidth is limited.
