Radiometers


Radiometers are instruments used to measure the intensity of electromagnetic radiation in the form of light. In space and astronautical engineering, radiometers are used to measure the radiation emitted by celestial bodies, such as stars and planets, as well as the radiation reflected by these bodies. Radiometers are also used to measure the radiation emitted by spacecraft and other man-made objects in space. Radiometers can be passive or active, with passive radiometers measuring the radiation emitted by objects and active radiometers emitting their own radiation and measuring the reflected radiation. Radiometers are important tools for studying the composition and properties of celestial bodies, as well as for monitoring the health and performance of spacecraft and other space-based instruments.
