Kinetic Projectiles

Kinetic projectiles are a type of space weapon that use the energy of motion to destroy or disable a target. These projectiles are typically made of dense materials such as tungsten or depleted uranium, and are accelerated to high velocities using electromagnetic railguns or coilguns. When the projectile impacts the target, the kinetic energy is converted into destructive force, causing damage or destruction. Kinetic projectiles are considered a promising alternative to traditional explosive weapons, as they do not rely on chemical reactions and can be more precise and efficient. However, they also pose significant technical and ethical challenges, such as the risk of creating space debris and the potential for indiscriminate damage. As such, the development and deployment of kinetic projectiles is subject to international regulations and treaties.
