Elementary Particles


In space and astronautical engineering, elementary particles are subatomic particles that have no substructure and are not composed of smaller particles. They are the basic building blocks of matter and interact through fundamental forces. Elementary particles include quarks, leptons, and gauge bosons. Quarks are the building blocks of protons and neutrons, while leptons include electrons and neutrinos. Gauge bosons mediate the fundamental forces, such as photons for electromagnetism and W and Z bosons for weak nuclear force. The study of elementary particles is important in understanding the behavior of matter and energy in the universe, as well as in the development of particle accelerators and detectors.
