Leptons

In the context of space and astronautical engineering, leptons are a type of elementary particle that do not interact via the strong nuclear force. They include the electron, muon, and tau particles, as well as their corresponding neutrinos. Leptons are important in the study of cosmic rays and high-energy astrophysics, as they are produced in many astrophysical processes, such as supernovae and active galactic nuclei. They are also used in particle accelerators to study the fundamental properties of matter and the universe. Leptons have been observed to undergo flavor oscillations, which is the phenomenon of changing from one type of lepton to another over time. This has important implications for understanding the nature of neutrinos and the possibility of new physics beyond the Standard Model.
