Damping Materials
Damping materials are substances or composites that are used to reduce or eliminate vibrations, shocks, and noise in spacecraft and other astronautical structures. These materials are designed to absorb or dissipate mechanical energy, converting it into heat or other forms of energy that can be safely dissipated. Damping materials are used in a variety of applications, including launch vehicles, satellites, and space habitats, to improve structural integrity, reduce noise levels, and protect sensitive equipment from damage caused by vibrations and shocks. They are typically made from polymers, metals, or ceramics, and may be applied as coatings, adhesives, or inserts in structural components.
