Safety Feature
A safety feature is a design element or operational procedure implemented in a spacecraft or launch vehicle to ensure the safety of the crew, payload, and the general public. Safety features can include redundant systems, emergency escape mechanisms, and fail-safe mechanisms that prevent catastrophic failures. Safety features are critical in space and astronautical engineering to mitigate the risks associated with spaceflight, which can be dangerous and unpredictable. Safety features are designed to prevent or mitigate accidents, malfunctions, and other unforeseen events that could jeopardize the mission or the lives of the crew. Safety features are tested extensively during the design and development phase and are continuously monitored and updated throughout the mission.
