Tracking And Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS)

Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) is a network of American communications satellites and ground stations used to support space communications for NASA and other United States government agencies. The system provides tracking, telemetry, command, and high-bandwidth data return services for low Earth orbiting spacecrafts. TDRSS is capable of providing continuous communication coverage between spacecraft and ground stations by using multiple satellites in geosynchronous orbit and a network of ground stations. The system is designed to support a wide range of missions, including human spaceflight, scientific exploration, and Earth observation. TDRSS has been in operation since 1983 and has supported numerous missions, including the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and the Hubble Space Telescope.
