Thermal Radiation

Thermal radiation is the transfer of heat energy in the form of electromagnetic waves. In space and astronautical engineering, thermal radiation plays a crucial role in the design and operation of spacecraft and other space systems. The extreme temperatures and vacuum of space make it difficult to regulate the temperature of spacecraft and equipment, and thermal radiation is one of the primary methods used to manage heat. Engineers use materials with specific thermal properties to control the amount of heat absorbed or emitted by a spacecraft, and they design thermal control systems to manage the flow of heat. Thermal radiation is also important in the study of celestial bodies, as it is one of the primary ways that heat is transferred in space.
