Station-keeping

Station-keeping is the process of maintaining a spacecraft in a particular orbit or position relative to another object in space, such as a satellite, space station, or planet. This is achieved by using thrusters to make small adjustments to the spacecraft's velocity and trajectory, compensating for any external forces that may cause it to drift off course. Station-keeping is essential for many space missions, including satellite communication, Earth observation, and rendezvous and docking operations. It requires precise calculations and continuous monitoring of the spacecraft's position and velocity, as well as the gravitational and atmospheric conditions in its vicinity.
