Solid Oxide Electrolysis

Solid Oxide Electrolysis is a process that uses a solid oxide material as an electrolyte to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen gases. This process is similar to Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs), but instead of producing electricity, it uses electricity to produce hydrogen and oxygen. The process involves passing an electric current through the solid oxide electrolyte, which causes the oxygen ions to migrate to the anode and react with the electrons to form oxygen gas. At the same time, the hydrogen ions migrate to the cathode and react with the electrons to form hydrogen gas. Solid Oxide Electrolysis has the potential to be a highly efficient and cost-effective method for producing hydrogen, which can be used as a clean fuel for transportation and power generation.
