Satellite Positioning Systems
Satellite Positioning Systems are a network of satellites that provide geolocation and time information to users on the ground, in the air, or in space. These systems use a combination of satellite signals and ground-based receivers to determine the precise location of a user's device. The most well-known satellite positioning system is the Global Positioning System (GPS), which is operated by the United States government. Other satellite positioning systems include GLONASS (Russia), Galileo (European Union), and BeiDou (China). These systems are used in a variety of applications, including navigation for ships, aircraft, and ground vehicles, surveying and mapping, and scientific research.
