Regenerative Braking


Regenerative braking is a mechanism that converts the kinetic energy of a moving object into electrical energy, which can be stored and reused later. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, regenerative braking is used in spacecraft and rockets to recover energy that would otherwise be lost during descent or landing. During descent, the spacecraft or rocket uses its engines to slow down, which generates a large amount of heat that must be dissipated. Regenerative braking allows this heat to be converted into electrical energy, which can be stored in batteries or used to power other systems on the spacecraft. This reduces the amount of fuel that must be carried on board, which in turn reduces the weight of the spacecraft and the cost of the mission.
