Protostar

A protostar is a dense region of gas and dust in space that is in the process of collapsing under its own gravity to form a star. As the protostar collapses, it heats up and begins to emit radiation. The protostar will continue to collapse until the core reaches a temperature of about 10 million degrees Celsius, at which point nuclear fusion reactions will begin and the protostar will become a true star. Protostars are important objects to study because they provide insight into the early stages of star formation and the physical processes that govern it.
