Meteoroids

Meteoroids are small rocky or metallic objects in space that range in size from tiny grains to small asteroids. They are often remnants of comets or asteroids that have broken apart due to collisions. When a meteoroid enters the Earth's atmosphere, it becomes a meteor or shooting star, producing a streak of light as it burns up due to friction with the air. Meteoroids can also collide with spacecraft and satellites in orbit around the Earth, posing a hazard to space missions. To protect against meteoroid impacts, spacecraft and satellites are often equipped with shields or other protective measures.
