Lightning Rods

Lightning rods are metal rods mounted on top of buildings and other structures to protect them from lightning strikes. They work by providing a path of least resistance for the lightning to follow, diverting the electrical charge away from the structure and harmlessly into the ground. A lightning rod is typically made of copper or aluminum and consists of a pointed rod, a conductor cable, and a grounding rod. When lightning strikes the rod, the electrical charge is conducted down the cable and into the grounding rod, where it is safely dissipated into the earth. Lightning rods are an important safety feature for tall buildings, as they can prevent damage from lightning strikes and reduce the risk of fire or other hazards.
