Landing Systems

Landing systems refer to the various mechanisms and technologies used to safely land spacecraft, rockets, and other vehicles on celestial bodies such as planets, moons, and asteroids. These systems include parachutes, retro-rockets, airbags, and landing legs. The design and implementation of landing systems are critical to the success of space missions, as they ensure that spacecraft and their payloads can safely reach the surface of their target celestial body without damage. Landing systems must be able to withstand the harsh conditions of space and the unique environments of different celestial bodies, such as the thin atmosphere of Mars or the rugged terrain of the Moon. Engineers must also consider factors such as the weight and size of the spacecraft, as well as the specific scientific objectives of the mission, when designing landing systems.
