IFOV
IFOV stands for Instantaneous Field of View. It is the angular size of the smallest detail that can be resolved by a remote sensing instrument at a particular distance from the target. In other words, it is the size of the smallest object that can be detected by a sensor at a given distance. IFOV is determined by the size of the detector array and the focal length of the optics. A smaller IFOV means that the sensor can detect smaller objects, but it also means that the sensor has a narrower field of view. IFOV is an important parameter in remote sensing because it determines the spatial resolution of the sensor. The smaller the IFOV, the higher the spatial resolution of the sensor.
