Gluons

In the context of space and astronautical engineering, gluons are elementary particles that mediate the strong nuclear force between quarks, which are the building blocks of protons and neutrons. The strong nuclear force is one of the four fundamental forces of nature and is responsible for holding the nucleus of an atom together. Gluons are unique in that they carry the strong force themselves, unlike other fundamental forces that are carried by particles with mass, such as the photon for the electromagnetic force. Understanding the behavior of gluons is important for modeling the behavior of quarks and the strong force, which is crucial for understanding the behavior of atomic nuclei and the behavior of matter in extreme conditions, such as those found in the early universe or in the cores of neutron stars.
