Strong Force


In space and astronautical engineering, the strong force is a fundamental force that holds the nucleus of an atom together. It is the strongest of the four fundamental forces, with a range of about 10^-15 meters. The strong force is responsible for binding protons and neutrons together in the nucleus, overcoming the electromagnetic repulsion between positively charged protons. This force is mediated by particles called gluons, which are exchanged between quarks, the building blocks of protons and neutrons. Understanding the strong force is crucial for designing nuclear reactors, particle accelerators, and other technologies that rely on nuclear physics.
