Neutrons
In space and astronautical engineering, neutrons are subatomic particles that have no electric charge and are found in the nucleus of an atom. Neutrons play a crucial role in nuclear reactions and are used in various applications such as neutron imaging, neutron radiography, and neutron scattering. In space, neutrons are used to study the composition of planetary surfaces and to detect water and other volatile substances. Neutron detectors are also used in space to measure the radiation environment and to monitor the health of astronauts. Neutron sources, such as nuclear reactors and spallation sources, are used to produce high-energy neutrons for various applications in space and on Earth.
