Fuels
In space and astronautical engineering, fuels are substances that are used to power rockets and spacecraft. The most common types of fuels used in space travel are liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen, which are combined in a rocket engine to produce water vapor and a large amount of energy. Solid rocket fuels are also used in some applications, such as boosters for launching spacecraft into orbit. These fuels are typically made from a mixture of chemicals, including aluminum powder and ammonium perchlorate, which burn rapidly to produce thrust. In addition to providing energy for propulsion, fuels are also used to power on-board systems, such as generators and life support equipment.
