Frequency Hopping

Frequency hopping is a technique used in wireless communication systems where the carrier frequency of a transmitted signal is rapidly switched among many different frequencies according to a particular sequence known to both the transmitter and receiver. This technique is used to avoid interference and jamming, and to provide security against eavesdropping. In space and astronautical engineering, frequency hopping is used in satellite communication systems to improve the reliability and security of the communication links between the ground station and the satellite. The frequency hopping pattern is designed to avoid interference from other communication systems and to provide resistance against jamming and interception. The frequency hopping technique is also used in satellite navigation systems, such as GPS, to improve the accuracy and reliability of the positioning information.
