Exercise Capacity

Exercise capacity refers to the maximum amount of physical exertion that an individual can sustain for a prolonged period of time. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, exercise capacity is a critical factor in determining an individual's ability to perform tasks and withstand the physical demands of spaceflight. Maintaining exercise capacity is essential for preventing muscle and bone loss, cardiovascular deconditioning, and other negative physiological effects of microgravity. Astronauts must engage in regular exercise programs to maintain their exercise capacity while in space. These programs typically include a combination of aerobic and resistance training, as well as specialized equipment such as treadmills and resistance machines designed for use in microgravity environments.
