Dwarf Planet
A dwarf planet is a celestial body that orbits the sun, is spherical in shape, but has not cleared its orbit of other debris. It is too small to be considered a planet, but too large to be considered an asteroid or a comet. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) currently recognizes five dwarf planets in our solar system: Pluto, Eris, Haumea, Makemake, and Ceres. Dwarf planets are important objects to study in the field of space and astronautical engineering because they provide insight into the formation and evolution of our solar system.
