Coordinate System

In space and astronautical engineering, a coordinate system is a reference system used to define the position of an object or a point in space. It is a mathematical model that uses a set of numbers, or coordinates, to represent the location and orientation of an object relative to a fixed reference point. The most commonly used coordinate system in space engineering is the Cartesian coordinate system, which uses three perpendicular axes to define the position of an object in three-dimensional space. Other coordinate systems used in space engineering include the polar coordinate system, which uses an angle and a distance to define the position of an object, and the spherical coordinate system, which uses two angles and a distance to define the position of an object on the surface of a sphere.
