Cardiovascular Function

Cardiovascular function refers to the ability of the heart and blood vessels to efficiently transport oxygen and nutrients to the body's tissues and organs. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, cardiovascular function is of particular concern due to the effects of microgravity on the human body. Prolonged exposure to microgravity can lead to a decrease in cardiovascular function, including a decrease in heart rate, blood pressure, and cardiac output. This can result in a variety of health issues, including orthostatic intolerance, decreased exercise capacity, and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. To mitigate these effects, astronauts engage in regular exercise and cardiovascular training while in space, as well as upon their return to Earth.
