Vapor Compression

Vapor compression is a thermodynamic cycle used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems to transfer heat from one area to another. It works by compressing a refrigerant gas, which increases its temperature and pressure. The high-pressure gas then flows through a condenser, where it releases heat and condenses into a liquid. The liquid refrigerant then flows through an expansion valve, where it undergoes a pressure drop and evaporates into a low-pressure gas. This low-pressure gas then flows through an evaporator, where it absorbs heat and cools the surrounding area. In space and astronautical engineering, vapor compression is used in spacecraft thermal control systems to regulate the temperature of the spacecraft and its components.
