Test Statistic

In the context of space and astronautical engineering, a test statistic is a numerical summary of a sample of data that is used to make inferences about the population from which the sample was drawn. Test statistics are commonly used in hypothesis testing, where the goal is to determine whether a particular hypothesis about the population is supported by the data. In space and astronautical engineering, test statistics can be used to evaluate the performance of spacecraft and other systems, to compare different designs or configurations, or to assess the impact of environmental factors on system performance. Test statistics can also be used to analyze data from experiments or simulations, to identify trends or patterns, or to validate models or simulations. Common test statistics used in space and astronautical engineering include measures of central tendency (such as mean or median), measures of variability (such as standard deviation or range), and measures of correlation or association (such as correlation coefficients or regression slopes).
