Space-related Illnesses

Space-related illnesses refer to the physical and psychological health issues that astronauts may experience during spaceflight. These illnesses can be caused by a variety of factors, including exposure to radiation, microgravity, isolation, confinement, and the stress of living and working in a space environment. Some common space-related illnesses include space motion sickness, cardiovascular deconditioning, muscle and bone loss, radiation sickness, and psychological issues such as depression and anxiety. To mitigate these risks, astronauts undergo extensive medical screening and training before spaceflight, and are monitored closely during their missions. Additionally, spacecraft and habitats are designed to provide a safe and healthy environment for crew members, with features such as exercise equipment, radiation shielding, and air and water purification systems.
