Scramjet Engines
Scramjet (supersonic combustion ramjet) engines are a type of air-breathing jet engine that can operate at hypersonic speeds (above Mach 5). Unlike traditional jet engines, scramjets do not have rotating parts and rely on high-speed airflow to compress and combust fuel. Scramjets use atmospheric oxygen for combustion, which eliminates the need to carry heavy oxidizer on board. Scramjets are designed to operate in the upper atmosphere and are being developed for use in hypersonic aircraft and space vehicles. They have the potential to significantly reduce travel time for long-distance flights and enable access to space at a lower cost.
