Refractory Metals

Refractory metals are a group of metallic elements with high melting points and excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures. These metals are commonly used in space and astronautical engineering due to their ability to withstand extreme conditions such as high temperatures, corrosion, and wear. The most common refractory metals used in space applications are tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, and niobium. Tungsten is used in rocket nozzles, electrical contacts, and radiation shielding. Molybdenum is used in rocket parts, electrical contacts, and furnace components. Tantalum is used in capacitors, rocket nozzles, and heat exchangers. Niobium is used in superconducting magnets, rocket nozzles, and nuclear reactors.
